Website Terms of Use and Story Submission Agreement
Effective October 8, 2026
Questions, permissions, or removal requests: mapleislandfilms@gmail.com
About these terms
MAPLE ISLAND FILMS INC. ("we," "us," or "our") owns the film ON THE LINE and operates ontheline.movie. These terms govern website use and story submissions. By submitting a story and accepting these terms, you agree to the permissions and conditions below. If you do not agree, do not submit a story.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information.
Film and website materials
The film and our website materials—including artwork, photographs, video, text, and branding—belong to MAPLE ISLAND FILMS INC. or their respective owners and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may browse the website for personal use and share links to it or the official trailer.
Materials expressly provided in the press room may be used for accurate editorial coverage of ON THE LINE and promotion of authorized screenings, with supplied credits and without suggesting an unrelated endorsement. Do not materially alter those materials or use them for merchandise or unrelated advertising without permission. This does not limit fair use or other rights provided by law.
Access to this website or submission of a screening request does not grant a license to exhibit, distribute, or reproduce the film. Screening arrangements require separate authorization.
Who may contribute
You must be at least 18 to submit a story, request a screening, or sign up for email updates. People under 18 may not use these forms.
Nothing in these terms takes away any rights a minor has under applicable law.
Your story and the permission you give us
Your words remain yours. By submitting a story and accepting these terms, you give MAPLE ISLAND FILMS INC. a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, review, reproduce, display, and distribute your approved story on this website, in official ON THE LINE social media, and in publicity promoting the film and its screenings. Worldwide permission allows these materials to be viewed online from other countries. You are not entitled to payment for these permitted uses.
We may let service providers and people working on the film's publicity carry out those uses on our behalf, subject to the same limits. This permission does not authorize selling your story as a separate product, using it to advertise unrelated products, or adapting it into a film or another creative work. Those uses require a separate agreement.
We follow your publication choice: first name and city, or anonymous publication with neither displayed. Anonymous stories may still identify people through their content. We do not publish private contact or permission-verification details.
We will not change your words, shorten your story, or use an excerpt without first obtaining your approval. We may adjust formatting without changing the wording.
The permission lasts while we use your story for these purposes, unless you withdraw it by contacting us. After verifying your request, we stop new use and remove the story from the website and online channels we control within a reasonable time. Previously distributed print materials, completed uses, and copies independently shared by others may remain. We may retain a private copy and permission records where reasonably needed for legal or recordkeeping purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Submission standards and moderation
Submit only your own writing or material you have permission to share. Do not include confidential information, private details about other people without permission, unlawful content, threats, harassment, discriminatory abuse, or material that infringes someone else's rights. Do not impersonate others or present fabricated experiences as genuine.
We review stories before publication and may decline, delay, or remove a submission for privacy, safety, legal, editorial, or other reasonable concerns. Submission does not guarantee publication or a personal response. We will ask before making wording changes. Published audience stories express their contributors' experiences and views; they are not independently verified facts or professional advice.
Do not disrupt the website, attempt unauthorized access, upload malicious code, or harvest visitors' personal information.
This is not a crisis or healthcare service
The film, audience stories, and support links are provided for information and conversation. They do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, counseling, or an emergency response service. Forms and messages are not monitored for emergencies, and submitting a story does not create a professional-care relationship.
If you need immediate support in the United States, call or text 988. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. Outside the United States, contact your local emergency or crisis service. Do not use a website submission to request emergency help.
Updates, screenings, and outside services
Email updates are optional and separate from story submissions. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails. A screening request expresses interest; it is not a booking or a promise that a screening will occur. Dates and availability may change.
Outside services, including YouTube, ticket sellers, and support organizations, operate under their own terms. We are not responsible for their independent content or services. Check the relevant organizer or seller for ticket, cancellation, and refund terms.
Website availability and responsibility
We provide the website and its informational content "as is" and "as available." To the extent permitted by law, we do not warrant uninterrupted access, error-free content, or suitability for a particular purpose.
To the extent permitted by law, MAPLE ISLAND FILMS INC. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of this website. This limitation does not exclude responsibility for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, violations of law, or any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. It does not waive your privacy rights.
California law and changes to these terms
California law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Where permitted by law, disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California. This does not limit an available right to use small-claims court or mandatory protections in your home jurisdiction.
We may update these terms by posting a revised effective date and providing a prominent notice of material changes. The terms you accepted govern permissions for your existing story; we will request fresh agreement before materially expanding those permissions. If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
